Crossing 35 leads to various changes in body, and for me I was actually worried about grey hair than anything else. My previous generation relatives, still dye their hair and look much younger and how can I go grey at 35 itself, was my major concern. Basically, most of us are not in a position to go grey gracefully. We, at least the working lot, want to wait till retirement age.

I started trying various hair dyes and settled for "black henna" thinking that it is some sort of henna it self. I laugh now at my ignorance then. It worked fine for few months. It gave me instant results so I didn't have to plan prior. Just decide 10 mins before washing my hair and voila I had jet black hair in minutes. I was happy but I wanted to save that 10mins also, not that I use it productively elsewhere, but it was sheer laziness

Then I switched to a product called "Shampoo hair color" - sounded like a miracle and a blessing. Used it. Wow factor!!! Amazing results!!! Somehow deep inside I was aware that it could be some harsh chemical that is leading to this immediate result. But I ignored, as I wanted result quickly. Was happier with usage for few more months.

Then one day I started experiencing burning sensation on my scalp after applying the shampoo hair color. I didn't change the brand nor the color type. The one which was working fine before started giving me burning sensation. I was a bit scared. Discontinued using it immediately and threw out whatever sachets were left with me

Then explored and researched on traditional and natural hair dye methods. Not that I wasn't aware of henna before however I was not liking the reddish tinge it gave to my hair. I was a big fan of henna as it helps in quick hair growth, for me and I religiously use it every summer.

Indigo powder is what heard of much before but started researching and experimenting with this beautiful ingredient. I bought the powder from multiple vendors but the result was not satisfactory. I tried using it multiple ways - with henna, without henna, etc. but nothing was satisfactory

Then I found a vendor from whom I am able to source reliable henna and indigo powder and from then on there is no looking back. I devised a method that suits my hair type and my time and figured out the best way possible.

Now I use this combination of henna and indigo powder to color my hair. My hair is not jet black like the way it used to be when I used chemical hair dyes, but I don't want it to look that way either. I am happy with the brownish tinge that my natural hair color gives, in a much healthier way than the beautiful black that the chemicals give.

So I started accepting greying gracefully, with a tinge of brown!!!

My take on hair coloring is "Go Natural, Go Traditional", beauty lies in health, don't ignore it

Invest your time, effort and money in products which take good care of you not the ones which make you look great temporarily
